Writing Topic Chapter 17

Chapter 17 talks about how to choose appropriate language. Language is appropriate when it suits your subject, engages your audience, and blends naturally with your own voice. If possible try to stay away from jargon because not all readers are familiar with that language. Jargon is a specialized language used among members of a trade, profession, or group. Even though we all want to sound intelligent in our writing you don't want to overdue it because it is so ornate and often so wordy that it obscures the thought that lies beneath. Another thing that you also want to avoid is using obsolete and invented words. They said even though you come across these words in the dictionary but it does not necessary mean that it is appropriate for current use.

What I have learn from this chapter is to be wise on what language I decide to used in my writing. Not all readers understand your language especially when it is not everyday common English. What I also found that I thought was interested is to not used new words in dictionary that is not a current language in today's society.
