Chapter 51 focuses on managing information; avoiding plagiarism. They say effective researchers is a good record keeper. Keep a record of any sources you decide to consult. You want to give credit to those who offered the information you don't want to plagiarism which is another term for stealing. A good way to keep track of source materials is by photo coping them or print them out. Be careful when you take notes because you don't want to plagiarism language from your sources. When summarizing your sources always make sure that its in your own words so your not plagiarizing. Lastly, if you're going to use an exact word from you source make sure you use quotation marks.
I need to work on giving credit to my sources. I sometimes forget where I get my sources from. In the future I would learn to either photocopy or jog do the information.

Writing topic for chapter 50
Chapter 50 talks about how to evaluate sources. Hundreds of potential sources can be found by using an electronic search engine but are they all quality sources? Not all sources are reliable and accurate, so you would need to decided on some sources worth consulting. A few steps that you'll need to take to have a successful source would be to determine how a source will contribute to your writing, select sources worth your time and attention, read with an open mind and a critical eye and assess web sources with special care. Before you begin you need to do some research on your topic you want to make sure that the source that you're collecting is going to help you make your argument. Make sure you select sources that is worth your time and attention. A book's title and date of publication will often be the first clues as to whether the book is worth consulting. Some older sources might not have up to date accurate information. The next step you want to take is to read with an open mind and a critical eye. Make sure you don't let your personal beliefs over come or prevent you from seeking new ideas and viewpoints. In your reading try to distinguish from a primary or secondary source. Primary sources are original documents such as letters, diaries, legislative bills, laboratory studies, field research reports, and eyewitness accounts. Secondary sources are commentaries on primary sources. Keep in mind that a primary source does not necessary mean that its a more reliable source. Lastly, assess web sources with special care. Sources on the web might not be reliable sources so be very careful.
What I will take back with me from this chapter is to be careful on using web information. I tend to google everything that I don't have an answer for. Also another thing is that I sometime should not be so narrow minded. I need to learn to view things in a different aspect.

Happy Endings, Obituary, and Oompah Loompah Dialogue
What's your response to Mr. Harvey?
Mr. Harvey seems to be very straight forward to his students. He address his feelings and thoughts very negatively. Instead of in a professional way its more of a personal level. It seems like he wants his students to be speaking proper English which is great because in a professional society when you're working you shouldn't be using slang. I don't believe his method of teaching is too successful because he's not inspiring the kids but putting them down.
It makes me wonder how Mr. Harvey was brought up or what make him think this is the right way to educate your student. Teachers needs to learn to be very patient because not all students are on the same learning level, some might take longer than others to understand something. Mr. Harvey needs to understand that if he wants to help his students he needs to learn to help himself first. Obviously his method is not working but instead is scaring his students away.

Writing topic for chapter 48
Chapter 48 focuses on evaluating arguments. There are many ways we can evaluate arguments but does not necessarily mean that everyway is correct and fair to others. We all like to think that our argument is always correct but that's not good enough we need to get details and proof. An argument as first seems to be reasonable but turns out to be fallacious, unfair, or both. Unreasonable arguments are known as logical fallacies which is misguided or dishonest uses of legitimate argumentative strategies. When you write an argument make sure you're quoting opposing views to show some level of fairness.
When I start writing an argument I will make sure that I have enough supporting evidence to the readers. I don't want them to think that I'm just assuming. Another thing that I felt like was a great idea was that I should always quote the opposing sides view/argument. So that it shows that I'm being fair.
