Writing Topic Chapter 17
Chapter 17 talks about how to choose appropriate language. Language is appropriate when it suits your subject, engages your audience, and blends naturally with your own voice. If possible try to stay away from jargon because not all readers are familiar with that language. Jargon is a specialized language used among members of a trade, profession, or group. Even though we all want to sound intelligent in our writing you don't want to overdue it because it is so ornate and often so wordy that it obscures the thought that lies beneath. Another thing that you also want to avoid is using obsolete and invented words. They said even though you come across these words in the dictionary but it does not necessary mean that it is appropriate for current use.
What I have learn from this chapter is to be wise on what language I decide to used in my writing. Not all readers understand your language especially when it is not everyday common English. What I also found that I thought was interested is to not used new words in dictionary that is not a current language in today's society.

All I Asking For Is My Body Part 2 Dialogue
Why does Kiyoshi believe Obaban is a substitute for his mom?
Kiyoshi believe that Obaban is a substitute for his mother is because his mother is very superstitious. When they eat his mother insisted that rice should always be scooped at least twice from the bowl to the individual even if the second scoop was a token one without any rice on the ladle. Her believe is that by scooping the rice twice it would protect her family from a second mother which means the mother would not die or run away. She believed that number four is a bad luck number because it is pronounced "shi." Shi can mean four or death. When her husband turned forty-two years old she was worried because it was pronounced "shi-ni" which had the same sound as "shi-ni-iku" which means to go to die. Even though her husband didn't believed it he almost had two fatal accidents when he was at sea. She also believe that any debts that is owed needs to be paid by the end of the year to avoid bad luck. She was so superstitious that she believed she was a substitute for someone elses sin. She had bad luck ever since she moved to Hawaii. She lost all of her teeth due to decays and that lead to other illness. She was thinking that she was dying, while she was at the hospital she wanted to see her friend Obaban. Kiyoshi went and got her shortly after while Kiyoshi was in school his Dad arrived at his school. He was very nervous because his dad never show up at school unless its a parents conference. He taught that his mother was dead but he got the news that Obaban died of a stroke. He was so happy inside and at that moment he believes that Obaban had substitute for his mother's death.

Writing Topic Chapter 52
In chapter 52 it explain the importance of a thesis and how it is used in a research paper. What is a thesis? A thesis is a one-sentence or occasionally a two-sentence statement of your central idea. In a research paper follow after an introduction would be the body of your paper. The body would consist information that would support your thesis. You want to make sure that the information that you are providing is accurate and convincing to the readers. Most of the time thesis are used in the beginning of a paper but not necessary. Some people would tie it in the ending.
What I had learn from chapter 52 is the importance of a thesis. I would make sure that the body of my paper support my thesis and that the information that I'm providing is convincing to the reader.

All I Asking For Is My Body Dialogue
Who is Makot? Do you feel sorry for him? What are your thoughts about him and the way he copes with his parents?
Makot is a young teenager whom only plays with kids younger than him. His family was the only Japanese family in Filipino Camp. In a sense I do feel sorry for him and the other hand I don't. The reasons why I feel sorry for him is because none of the older boys his age is willing to play with him. They make fun of him and they make it clear that he is not wanted in their group. Makot have no choice but to play with the younger kids. In a way it seems like he have to brie them to be friends with him by buying them chow mein, ice cream, etc. The reason why I don't feel sorry for him is because of the behavior that he carries with his mother. I do not like how he speaks and treat his mother. No child should shove their mother and tell them to shut up. He is very disrespectful, that is probably the reasons why the older kids don't want to play with him. Or maybe that is why Kiyo's parents don't want him to play or be around Makot. It was shoking to me that Makot's mother did not react to the way Makot was disrespecting her. The relationship that Makot and Kiyo have with their parents are opposite. Even though Kiyo does not obey everything that his parents tell him to do but he would never dear to disrespect his parents.

Smoke Signal Dialoge
What do you think of the reationship between Thomas and Victor?
The movie Smoke Signal is about two boys named Victor and Thomas. Victor' father Joseph saved Thomas from dying. He saved Thomas life by getting him out of his burning house where both of his parents died because they didn't escape from the burning house. Victor's father was an alcoholic and was abusive towards his wife. He left his family when Victor was very young. After Joseph died of a heart attack Victor was sent to Phoenix, Arizona to go and pick up his father ashes and belongings. Victor does not have enough money to go on the trip to Arizona, but his neighbor Thomas does. Thomas and Victor went on the trip by a bus, when they were on the bus people where looking at them like they were from a different planet. At that time Thomas met a girl and she was telling him false stories. Victor told Thomas not to trust people. Thomas and Victor did not had such a good relationship prior to the road trip. Victor taught that Thomas was very annoying and I guess you can say weird. He also follow and ask Victor questions. The road trip had made them became very good friends, they learn to understand each other.
Its amazing how one trip can changed the way a person feels or think about an individual. I feel like I can relate to them, I had a classmate which at first I thought was the annoyingest person I have ever met end up being one of my closest friend. We shouldn't judge anyone before we really get to know them.
